India Joins worldwide group of Home Cockpit / Simpit Builders

Hello Aviation Enthusiasts,

I have built a full size PC based home cockpit / Simpit. The cockpit is approximately the size of an A 320 cockpit with seats for Pilot in Command and Co Pilot. It uses seven monitors of 19" size to provide 180 degree panoramic view of the outside scenery as in the case of a actual aircraft. A full size instrument panel using two 19" TFT is in place. Realistic controls like yoke, throttle quadrant, rudder pedal and switch panels have been used. A shell has been made to accomodate the hardware in such a way that it does resemble a cockpit. The project is modelled on the popular platform namely Microsoft Flight Simulator MSFS 2004.

Detailed browsing of the internet has shown that there aren't too many home cockpit builders in India. Infact they can be counted on finger tips. Significantly, I haven't come accros any one in India who has a fully developed cockpit for home. I have further noted that serious gamers and Virtual Aviators in India who fly on the net on leading platforms like IVAO / VATSIM / VAs are known to be using single PC / laptop with two monitors. Can I say that my Home cockpit is the first of its kind in India? In any case, the purpose of this article is to let the community know that the hooby of Simpit building has reached India.

I expect this article to spread awarness about cockpit building in India and take this hobby /passion to the next higher level.

Comments / questions are welcome.

Regards,
Dinesh

Would have been great if you had shared a few pics of your cockpit.
